Saying Goodbye to The Wild West
It's time to pack up your bags and head east, my friends. The Wild West, a site that we have all come to know and love, is now being buried. Larka created this site on June Fourth, 2005. It was active, up-and-running for a good year and a half. As we mostly all know, Larka underwent some new changes in her life and was forced to be a little inactive now and again. She then appointed me, Shadow, co-admin of the site. Soon enough, after a long period of well-worked time, Larka could no longer keep a watchful eye on the site. Though she still remained the creator, God, and everything above, of the site, she emailed me and said these words:
Shadow; Talia
I'm sorry. That's all I have to say. I can no longer keep the site. I am pained to give it up after so much hard-work. I have thought and though about who to give the site to. Ranger, a perfect candidate, showed her loyalty to the site, the members, and over all, to me. But you, Talia, Shadow, though we have never met before and have only known each other for a little over a year, are better than perfect. You offered up your very life to help me maintain this out-of-control hellhole of a site that supported nearly four hundred members. Thank you SO much! Therefor, Shadow, through thick and thin, I want you to have, The Wild West. Please take care of it. I will no longer ever check on it. It's yours. Fix it up, break it down. Do what you please with the whole thing. If it becomes too much for you, please don't hesitate to shut it down. I don't want you to feel burdened. It may be important to me, but nothing is more important then pressuring you, and that is something that I do not want to do.
Yours Forever,
Larka
The Wild West be with you
This immediately, made me break down and cry. I didn't want it. Not without Larka. I couldn't take it from her. I know that it killed her to even type those very words. We shared several emails, but then she said that she no longer could talk. She didn't want to interfere. Her life was very complicated. Everything was going to be different. That made me cry too, because then I eventually realized that the Wild West, belonged to me. Now, all of you probably think that it is stupid for crying over a little site. But then again, those are the people that never gave the time of day to join. Ask anyone with a history that involved this place, and they are probably going to break down crying as well.
I now pronounce The Wild West, gone. Forever more. Never again to be alive, because it will be too painful to bring it back. Thank you to Dark Wolf, Ranger, Barrel Racer. You three made it easier for me to give it up. I love you guys to death. I never could have made myself do this. The five of us, to the day we die, will remember this. It was bigger than just a site. It was a savior, and we all agreed. Larka, we loved you, and never stopped. Dark Wolf, you are the best roleplayer out there. Barrel Racer, you couldn't do a better job with making the pictures. And Ranger, you offered me the best times of chatting. You made it easier to vent. You are a true therapist.
All regards,
Shadow
